Before you start your day, don’t open your email or look at your texts - write down 3 goals or tasks you need to accomplish that day. It can be as simple as “plan social media posts this week ” or “respond to all new messages in my CRM.” This allows you to focus on your important tasks and help you avoid being distracted by other things that may hit you that day. We know that other things will come up but you need to know how to focus on getting ahead instead of letting little distractions bring you down. It’s all about balance and even delegating. Remember you have the power to say no and if you need help with something - ask!
This honestly may be the most important habit you can incorporate into your life. When it comes to sleep, quality is everything! Your body and mind need a break to disconnect and relax in order to be productive. Just like your phone and computer need to recharge - so does your body (and let’s be honest, it’s the most important machine you’ve got)! Lack of sleep means you have less energy and less energy means it will take longer to complete your daily tasks. Be kind to your body and give it the rest it deserves.
What do we mean by this? We’re not saying go off the grid - we are saying that when you’re in the workflow of things to not check notifications or answer texts. Focus on one task at a time. It’s easy to fall into a bad habit of constantly checking your phone for notifications but at the end of the day it’s worse for your productivity. Block out time to work on your tasks and build in breaks to check on your notifications after! Try doing a mini digital detox and see if you can go 30 minutes without looking at your phone.
If you really feel like you will miss important calls or messages by stepping away from your phone, try blocking out times to focus on your important tasks in the morning or another time during the day when your clients and coworkers are less active.
Did you know that many diseases are caused by pure stress? Meditation is a great practice to help alleviate those negative feelings and find your inner peace. Don’t worry, you don’t need to meditate for hours or go on a retreat. Just 10-15 minutes a day can have a huge impact on your mind and body. This time will help you address your feelings and center your emotions which in turn will have a positive impact on your body physically. Plus there are so many resources out there! Check out programs on apps like Headspace or The Mindfulness App that you can download on your phone so you can meditate any time, anywhere.
The work-life balance is hard. We totally get it. We all have a million different things going on but at the end of the day self-care is equally important, if not more, as your job. Self-care can come in all different forms. The only thing that matters is that you take the time to do something that’s for you. Maybe it’s reading a book or the news for an hour. Going on a walk and listening to music for 30 minutes. Taking 5 minutes to treat yourself to a nice cup of coffee. Whatever it may be, do it for yourself! You deserve it! Try to do one thing for yourself once a day no matter how small.
At the end of the day, your intention and effort matter! You are the only one who truly can get in your own way. However, with these daily habits under your belt, there’s nothing that can stop you from being the best agent in today’s market. Following a daily routine with healthy habits can only lead you to success! So what are you waiting for? You’ve got this! Here’s to being happy and healthier together.
